The PROs and CONs of a Destination Wedding

Joy tilted her head. "Planning a destination wedding is fun but you need the help of an expert in that department".

She learned a few things during her years as an event planner in Nigeria. One of them is that clients involve the services of an event planner when they hit rock bottom but this particular couple seems open-minded.

"Thank God Damilola contacted you immediately", Dotun said proudly

Joy scanned them cautiously

"You guys are not ready"

"I don't understand", Damilola looked into her eyes.

Dotun cleared his throat. "I'm afraid you are mistaken"

Joy looked too sure of herself. "Mistaken about the fact that you don't know the pros and cons of planning a destination wedding?".

Damilola rubbed her chin. "Ehm..that's true".

Joy heaved a sigh of relief. "Let me tell you about the PROs and CONs of a destination wedding"

PROs of a Destination Wedding

*Less People, Less Drama

To avoid the case of "mo gbo, mo branch" (unwanted guests) at your wedding, just opt for a destination wedding. Having a destination wedding will help you to cut off unnecessary family drama. There would be enough "everything"(food, souvenirs, etc) to go round.

*Relaxation

Having a destination wedding helps you to steer clear of every form of stress from external factors. The pressure of planning would be reduced as different destination wedding location comes in different packages like catering, drinks, e.t.c.

Asides from that, the couple and guests could extend their stay to relax and enjoy the feel of a new environment. Though they could book a different resort or hotel.

*Intimacy

The couple can have good times together with their loved ones and create memories. Hosting a destination wedding will make you invite just close friends and families that can afford the trip thereby making your circle of attendees to be small. This will give chance for intimacy.

CONs of a Destination Wedding

*Extra Cost

Be prepared, destination wedding equals additional cash especially if you have special preferences.

For example, if you want a famous musician to make your day serene. You will need to take care of his feeding, accommodation e.t.c

*Legal Issues

Planning a wedding in another country involves a lot of paper works like the arrangement of a visa for yourself and your guests.

Marriage laws are different in different countries so when planning a wedding in another country, have the laws of the country in mind.

*Risky

A lot of people have been defrauded as a result of getting vendors online without meeting with them.

The vendors may sound convincing, skilled, and competent through virtual meetings but at the end of the day, the end product will be a case of "what I ordered versus what I got" or they might just go MIA on you on your big day.

"In conclusion, a destination wedding is risky"

Dotun reached out for Damilola's hand and said firmly, "We're ready to take the risk".
