Weekdays for Owambe
Somebody, please tell me what is going on. Owambes aren't on Saturday anymore... Weekends aren't usually complete without owambe in Nigeria Initially, we look forward to the weekend so that we can unwind from the stress of our 9 to 5 job but now things have changed drastically.
I like the fact that Monday mornings aren't scary anymore but exciting because an owambe has been fixed for the day.
Now that our weekend activity has been infused during weekdays, it makes the weekdays fun and We wouldn't have to struggle to get to our destination on weekends due to the traffic caused by party riders.
Imagine wilding on a Monday morning instead of being confined in an office, that is pure bliss mehn!!!
Here are the reasons why people choose to do their parties during weekdays.
BREAKING FREE FROM CONVENTIONALITY
Since I was a toddler, I’ve always known about parties being done on Saturdays. Now, seeing that things are not done the same way as before is a huge and drastic change for me.
This development is nice and at the same time surprising because in this part of the world, it is usually difficult to break from the norms. Nigerians have broken from the conventional or the "norm" as we usually say.
GUESTS CONTROL
Having owambe during weekdays could be used as a strategy to control the number of guests to the barest minimum. In Nigeria party, the ratio of the uninvited guests is usually higher than the invited guests especially if the party is not strictly by invitation.
The "mo gbo mo branch" (uninvited guests) will be at work during weekdays. They won't have the time to invade the parties that they aren't invited to. To avoid a situation where the uninvited guests would get the benefit of the actual guests.
Nice one, ku se omo mi
